The mission of theMYabilities program is to offer entreprenurial training and coaching to job seekers with disabilites.

 

Benefits

No independent business can be guaranteed financial success. However success from the MYAbiliies program will be realized in the following ways:

  • The potential to create income without depending upon the whims of outside employers and the fluctuating  job market

  • To learn skills in the most dynamic way possible -through real time application

  • The self esteem that comes from having an accomplishment to be proud of

  • No longer have to identify oneself as "unemployed."

  • A real resume booster in terms of both skills learned and being able to show current employment. should the client choose to continue with a traditional job search.

 

How 

Completely online and Virtual* utilizing tools such as screen sharing, SKYPE, phone, or email.

Outcomes

Outcomes will vary based on the individual's goals, abilites and individualized game plan. 

  • Initial individual assessment of talents, abilities and goals.

  • game plan to achieve the  launching of the desired business

  • Computer training needed to accomplish those goals, including excel, word, graphics

  • research and product resourcing

  • Business licensing

  • Business Plan/budget

  • Budget/Investment needed for products, licensing

  • Mark up/inventory/cost of goods/turnover

  • Merchandising and displays (if applicable)

  • Website/Online Store

  • Business cards, flyers, brochures

  • Marketing plan-email blasts/social media/pinterest/cold calls

  • Time management/building routine and calendar

  • Business resources in place

  • Samples ready for production

  • 3 month assessment of progress/challenges/work left  to share with support coordinators, job coach, family

 

Skills

Sampling of skills developed will vary according to individual's goals, abilites and individualized game plan.

  • Microsoft Office/Word/Excel

  • Screen sharing/SKPE

  • Graphic Arts-beginner level

  • Uploading photos/ altering images

  • Social media-facebook/Pinterest/Twitter/LinkedIN/Meetups

  • Basic Accounting

  • Buying/Resourcing/Building relationships with vendors

  • Private label programs

  • Researching/resourcing/buying/inventory fulfillment/vendor relations

  • Website  and online store building (drag and drop-no HTML code)

  • Etsy listing

  • Efficient production methods

  • Basics of merchandising and display

  • Social and communication skills-customer service/phone/Skype/being professional/

  • Event Planning

  • resume formatting

  • blogging

 

Asessments

Assessments are a valuable tool and can be shared with client's support coordinator, family,job coach, or potential employer. The three assessments are:

  • Initial Assessment of talents, abilities and goals

  • 3 month progress assessment

  • final assessment

It should be noted that other assessments may be needed as necessary in order to alert health care providers to possible concerns such as physical, mental or emotional fatigue and that based on those observations, the time allotted per session may be changed. There is no additional charge for that.

 

Cost

$50.00 per hour with self directed funds.Recommended appointment is 90 minutes.

This  fee includes preparation for meetings,  journal notes regarding the meeting  and 3 assessments.  MC/V.

 

Program Duration

This will vary according to the individual's abilities, speed, and motivation. There may be a change of direction, so that will naturally affect the time involved.There is also the option to continue in a mentoring, coach  or consulting capacity after the launch date of their business.

 

Terms

Payment is due upon completion of each session. There is no contract other than a single scheduled appointment and either party can discontinue the program at any time and for any reason.

Attendance is vital for the success of this program. A 24 hour notice is required to cancel an appointment to avoid charges. This can be done through email.

Exessive cancellations may lead to cancellation of this program, depending on the medical needs of the client.

In order to maintain a proper and professional relationship, the client must agree that there is to be no personal contact outside of the set appointment through phone, email or social media, unless it is agreed between both parties that it is a necessary part of professional development.

That the client understands that the program is designed to get them started in their endeavor and in no way can guarantee the financial success of their business. No business enjoys such a guarantee.

The service fee is for my mentoring and coaching only. Any additional costs involved in starting the business are the responsibility of the client

Note: Should the individual need training outside of the scope of my skills and experience, it will be recommended that he or she find a resource to provide proper information, training or  guidance. If desired, I can  help with that research .
